A worked example
- The problem
- Most AI tutors assume an English-speaking student and a willingness to hand over personal data. Neither assumption holds for a Bengali-speaking school student.
- What I built
- I built a privacy-first chat tutor on Next.js and TypeScript against the Hugging Face API, answering in both English and Bengali, with voice interaction and responses tuned to the student's grade level rather than one generic register.
- Outcome
- A working multilingual tutor with the source public on GitHub and a live deployment. It is the project on this list that speaks most directly to building for a Bengali-speaking audience.
Questions Bangladesh teams ask
Have you worked with Bangladeshi clients before?
Not yet. Every role on my CV has been with a Bangkok-based employer, so I have no Bangladeshi client list to point at. What I can show is the work itself: production systems with public URLs and open repositories, listed on this page and on the home page. I would rather you judge those than take a claim about local presence on trust.
Can you work in Bengali?
Yes. Bengali is a native language for me, so requirements conversations, user research and product copy in Bengali are all straightforward. Code, documentation and commit history stay in English, which is standard for a team of any size.
What can you bring that a local hire cannot?
Mainly the scale and the stack. Five years in Bangkok covering a national admissions platform, headless Shopify Plus commerce, and Rust microservices in production is a specific kind of exposure. Whether that is worth more to you than someone in your own time zone is a fair question, and the one-hour difference means the time zone argument is close to neutral either way.
